Studio Policies

  1. Please let me know if you have any praises or concerns. I am available by phone (587) 435-7286 or email moore.cristin@gmail.com, or in person. I prefer to talk with parent and not in front of student if there is a problem. Please encourage your kids to speak up to me if there is something they would like different in their lessons.

  2. I would like be be informed in advance of any learning struggles or medical needs. I always seek to work with students where they are at with grace.

  3. Parent’s participation in their child’s practicing is welcomed and encouraged. It’s important that they know you value music. Setting a practice schedule and helping them stick to it is a great start. Having some simple goals and encouragement along the way can move mountains. Rewards are a great motivator for diligent practice.

  4. I am requiring that students commit to a year of lessons, unless extenuating circumstances arise. This extends from September to the end of May. I am available to teach in the summer by request.

  5. Students are encouraged to participate in recitals. These have been a highlight for students. They are given an environment of unconditional acceptance. It’s always neat to meet other students who are also studying piano.

  6. As far as sick days, holidays, etc. I will do my best to make up for missed lessons, but at the end of the year all the lessons will be counted as completed. I am counting on this as my income, just like any other course you would take, or being in a school program. Please do your best to be available to make up lessons. It is important to attend lessons regularly, unless there is an emergency.

  7. If a lesson is missed and the teacher has not been called and contaced within 24 hours notice, it will still count as a completed lesson. My cell phone number is (587)435-7286.

  8. I take post dated cheques or monthly cheques. Please have them ready for the first of the month. Please have monthly cheques ready at the lesson a week before the end of the the month. E-transfers are accepted. If you are sending an e-transfer, please give a post dated cheque or e-transfer for last month of lessons.

  9. There will be a $25 charge on all NSF cheques.

  10. The students piano books will be at an extra charge, above the cost of lessons. I do charge one week of lessons to cover the cost of picking up books and administration fee.

  11. Always try to be on time. I will wait at your house for 15 minutes before leaving. If I come to the door, the lesson will be considered completed and the full amount will be charged. With that being said, I am often a few minutes behind. I will try and let you know.

  12. Please keep your house as quiet and tranquil as possible during the lessons. Please resolve child discipline behind a closed door. Please do not leave a child in a tantrum during the lesson. Bring them behind a closed door away from the music room or outside.

  13. I have taught Harry Potter music in the past, but have been doing some research and am not able to support any music or movie music that has witchcraft in it. If students would like to learn a song like that, I am requesting that they learn it on their own. If you would like more information on this topic, please let me know. I am excited about providing music that is enjoyable for each student.

  14. Please pay one month in advance by the end of the piano year to secure your spot and time in the next year.

  15. There will be a one month charge following a students discontinuing lessons. This includes the possibility of another government shut down. I am prepared and found it successful to teach by Whats App if needed.
